The Health Department of Nagpur Municipal Corporation has been receiving an overwhelming response towards the cleanliness recovery campaign. On Thursday, Mayor Nanda Jichkar launched the scheme by being the first one to pay the sanitation fee.
Responding to the campaign, standing committee chairperson Pradeep Pohane, ruling party leader Sandeep Joshi, health committee chairperson Virendra Kukreja, water supply committee chairman Vijay (Pintu) Jhalek, Laxminagar zone president Prakash Bhoyar, corporator Rita Mule along with other office bearers and councilors extended their support to the scheme by paying the cleaning charges with also citizens. A total of Rs 44,000 has been collected on the very first day.
According to the notification of the Maharashtra Government, NMC will charge Rs.60 per month per house for picking the garbage from homes as per the notification of Maharashtra State government. This scheme is going to be implemented in all the zones.
The Health Department has assigned employees for each of the 10 zones for collecting cleanliness charges. On their visit for collection, the NMC employee will provide a receipt to the houses.
NMC Commissioner Ram Joshi has appealed all the citizens to separately disperse the wet and dry garbage in the garbage trolleys coming at their doorsteps.
