PG Department of Fashion & Textile Design, LAD College and SVK Shikshan Sanstha jointly organised a two Day Free Tie&Dye and Screen Printing Work Shop for Intellectually Challenged Beneficiaries on August 8 and August 09, 2019, sponsored by Dr. Vanbala Mehta, UWA Pune and UWA Nagpur.
This workshop was conducted under the able guidance of Dr. Harsha Jharia, CAO, LAD College Mrs. Gayathri Vatsalya, President, SVK Shikshan Sanstha and Dr. Varsha Mankar, HOD.
Enthusiastic and able participants learnt various methods and techniques of Tie&Dye and screen printing and made various articles like Table linen, bed sheets, Dupattas, stoles, salwars etc.
The objective of this work shop is to train the Intellectually Challenged Adults and help them gain employment opportunities.
SVK Shikshan Sanstha is a nonprofit organisation, which works with people with intellectual disabilities towards their employment and professional training. Since 2017, it has introduced various professional opportunities for its beneficiaries, like packaging, labeling and marketing of a 21-grainflour, millets, organic morning teas, fashion shows and modeling, and a block printing unit. For the same, it has worked with almost 200 differently-abled Nagpurians in furthering their career paths.
This workshop was concluded with a Certificate distribution ceremony for which Mrs. Nidhi Mahto, was the Chief Guest while Dr. Rami Reddy, HOD, Dept. of Orthodontics, Kalinga University was the Guest of Honour, and Mrs. Kalpana Dhawad, Vice Principal, LAD College was the special guest.
The program was eloquently compered by Nikhil Gokhale, while Vote of Thanks was delivered by very confident Isha Verma, both are the Employees of SVK Shikshan Sanstha.
All the Parents, PG students and staff of Dept. of Fashion and Textile Design, LAD College Ms. Purvi, Psychologist, SVK Shikshan Sanstha worked hard for the success of the Work Shop.
