A 5-day induction program for first year BTech/BArch students of Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur was inaugurated today at the hands of Chinmay Pandit, IPS, DCP (Traffic), Nagpur city in presence of Shri Vishramji Jamdar, Chairman Board of Governors, VNIT and Prof. P. M. Padole, Director, VNIT. The induction program is planned to help unwind the students so that they quickly get assimilated in the institute environment.
Director Prof. P M Padole welcomed students to the institute and informed them about different student centric initiatives taken by VNIT. In his inspiring lecture, DCP Pandit stressed upon importance of discipline, consistency, time management, cultivating interests and visualization in personality building. He narrated his student days and how successes and failures helped him to become a better person. Vishramji Jamdar, Chairman BoG, VNIT advised students to cultivate interests other than academics to have a well rounded personality and wished them all the best.
Many different creative activities like movie making, theatre workshop, voice over, best out of waste (makers in action), origami etc are planned over next 5 days. It also has professional counselling on time management and active learning, heartfulness/meditation sessions by Nagpur Heartfulness Association as well as a talk on personality development by Dr. Shishir Palasapure.
The inauguration programme was attended by around 1000 newly admitted first year students as well as their student mentors, faculty members, Associate Deans, Hostel wardens, Dean (Acd) Dr S. B. Thombre, Dean (SW) Dr. B.S. Umre and Dean (R&C) V.B. Borghate. The programme was conducted by Dr. Ravindra Keskar and vote of thanks were proposed by Dr. Ratnesh Kumar.
