Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (MGIMS) is celebrating its golden jubilee on August 17, 2019 at the college premises. The institute has constructed an auditorium and it will be inaugurated by the hands of President Ram Nath Kovind.
The dignitaries including Governor CH Vidyasagar Rao and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will grace the occasion. The auditorium has the capacity of 750 people constructed at Swarna Jayanti Sabhagar complex of the institute.
The President will felicitate the ex-deans of the institute – Dr OP Gupta, Dr P Narang, Dr S Chabbra, Dr BS Garg and Dr KR Patond – for their contribution to the growth of MGIMS.
President of Kasturba Health Society, Dhirubhai Mehta said, “Today, the institute is proud having groomed 4,000 doctors who are settled in every nook and corner of the world,†Speaking about the yearlong celebrations, Dean Dr N Gangane informed, “As a part of the golden jubilee year of the institute, several national and international conferences were organised.
“This 50th anniversary is an appreciation of all the associates, students and alumni for helping us to be where we are today,†expressed Dr BS Garg, Secretary of Kasturba Health Society. “In last five decades, the hospital has grown from a 15 bedded hospital to a 934 bedded one,†Dr SP Kalantri, Medical Superintendent of Kasturba Hospital said, “Our services have multiplied many folds but our roots still remain in the rural community health,†he informed.
