Like every other Sacred Games 1 fan and obviously to know what happens next, I stayed up late till night to at least watch the first episode. ‘Matsya’ it began, but with the first episode itself, I had that feeling that may be these people are going to ruin it for the viewers. So the first episode itself tells that Gaitonde is far away from Mumbai and getting into the international drugs business, and Sartaj is on his way to ‘Save the country’.
With ‘Siduri’, spirituality enters the life of Sartaj Singh and Ganesh Gaitonde, which according to the observations is what they craved for. ‘Apasmara’, ‘Bardo’, ‘Vikarna’, ‘Azrael’ are the descriptions of how the country in under threat and how it is not worth saving. ‘Torino’ is nothing but Sartaj’s breakthrough to realise that only he can save the nation from the nuclear threat coming in from Pakistan.
The final episode, ‘Radcliff’ is the episode that portrays the descending of doomsday on the city. With the last episode Sacred Games 2 ends on a cliffhanger.
What came as a breath of fresh air was the character played by Amruta Subhash, after playing a Ranveer Singh’s mother in Gully Boy, she is definitely a surprise for those who have seen her in Marathi movies and serials. The characters played by Kalki Koechlin, Ranvir Shorey, are very underperformed, much could have done with such talented actors.
Pankaj Tripathi no doubt is good but again, fails to surprise people as they have already witnessed a little of him in earlier season. Saif Ali Khan runs and struggles throughout the season, discovering and re-discovering himself, his chase could’ve been cut down, but no, the director had to make lengthy and ample episodes. Nawazuddin Siddiqui is definitely the best of the lot and for sure the identity of the series.
The efforts to introduce, mob lynching, victim-cards, and intolerance is obvious in the series, this makes it all the more redundant.
For more reviews, Twitter is a fun platform and the memes will definitely crack you up. All in all, the series is definitely worth the binge-watch but yes, since you have to stay updated with the changing trends go for it. Plus, threat from Pakistan is, yes! Hilarious!
