Ritika Thaker of Nagpur with her Mumbai partner Simran Singhi claimed the women’s doubles title in the Senior State Badminton Tournament at Parbhani on Sunday. Facing the top seeds Mrunmayi Saoji and Manasi Gadgil, the Nagpur Thane pair easily beat them 21-10 and 21-12 to claim the title.
It may be mentioned that these girls had created a record of sorts last year by becoming the youngest state doubles champions in the senior state championships. It is also noteworthy that Ritika Thaker and Simran SInghi are unbeaten since the last 4 years at the state level tournaments under the various age category they have participated.
Ritika is a student of Hislop college and trains under Robin Simon and Ajay Dayal, while Simran trains at Thane academy.
