The Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA) started a Basketball Tournament from August 17 to 23. The Mayors Cup Maharashtra State Inter-District Basketball Championship is being held in Nagpur city for the first time ever in 70 years in Maharashtra.
The championship has entered the final round which will be held from 22 of August, where the Nagpur junior girls have managed to clear the quarter-finals from pool-A. The tournament saw a rain halt during the semifinals after which the sub-junior boys have also entered the finals round.
This basketball championship saw entries of two thousand players and the officials participating in the tournament. The Nagpur District Basketball Association tournament has been organized by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), where the championship is divided into two age groups which are under 18, also known as junior and under 13 which is being called as Sub Junior. This age group is divided for both girls and boys.
The matches for this tournament were held at seven different basketball clubs of the district. All of the rounds from Maharashtra state had around 112 teams in both the age category. These teams had 34 boys and 25 girls in the age group of, under 18, junior and under 13, sub junior category had 30 boys and 23 girls.
