The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) today revoked the suspension of Congress stalwart Dr Satish Chaturvedi today without any precondition. In a communication MPCC general secretary Advocate Ganesh Patil informed that on the advise of All India Congress Committee (AICC), the State body MPCC was revoking his suspension.
Reacting to the development, Dr Chaturvedi said he was extremely grateful to the party which he served all these days during his political career. “Hum to wahin baithe hai hum kahin geye nahi “(we are very much with Congress and never switched over to any other political outfit). I will continue to serve in my best capacities and have no ill will. He thanks the party leadership both in Mumbai and New Delhi for suo moto taking a decision on his suspension.
Dr Chaturvedi was suspended by MPCC during the tenure of Ashok Chavan as president when he had a tiff with him in February 2018. Chaturvedi questioned Chavan for his certain biased decisions and siding with incumbent leaders of Nagpur District unit and also against former MP Vilas Muttemwar.
Dr Chaturvedi, a Congress heavyweight, former Maharashtra Minister and Palak Mantri of Nagpur District who had represented Nagpur-East constituency three times subsequently lost the polls when BJP’s novice Krishna Khopde defeated him by a big margin in year 2009.Since then Chaturvedi was struggling to gain prominent space in the political circles in Nagpur in particular and Maharashtra in general.
However he was accused of engineering defeat of Vilas Muttemwar in the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 which Chaturvedi had vehemently denied. There was basis of allegations, he had clarified at that time. Â But Chavan had taken it personally when he was publicly humiliated and his effigy was burnt
