Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) will soon be starting a door to door garbage collection service in the city. The senior authorities of NMC’s Health Department have finalized two agencies for this work; M/s Anthony and M/s BVG who are well-known and reputed companies in urban cities and areas.
The Director of Health Department, NMC, Sunil Kamble said, altogether three agencies were selected to work on the sanitation of the city out of which these two agencies were finalized. He further added that the final work orders as to division of two packages for garbage collection and its transportation to Bhandewadi dumping yard will be decided in the coming days.
The garbage collection procedure has been divided by NMC into two sections, first will be for Zone 1 to 5 and the second will be for zone 6 to 10.
The selection was done on Monday where seven agencies showed a presentation of their strategies of the garbage collection from door to door. These companies included A to Z, BVG, Kanak, Unbesher, CDC and Swayambhu.
The previous agency who was under the tenure of garbage collection, Kanak Resources Management Limited (KRML) was given an extension for its contract till the time any new agency was finalized.
KRML was also involved during the presentation of the garbage collection task but unfortunately, it was disqualified during in the primary round itself as it did not meet the required technical capabilities which were mentioned in the list of the tender document.
NMC will be giving a tender of 10 years and an estimated cost of the project of rupees 800 crore to 1,000 crores.
