CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) organised the ‘JIGYASA’ a Student-Scientist Connect Program for the students of Kendriya Vidyalayas (KV) on August 30 in the NEERI Auditorium.
150 students and 12 teachers of Kendriya Vidyalayas from Mumbai and Raipur Regions participated in this program. The one-day program was organized to inspire the students to come up with innovative ideas and motivate them for creative science provided an opportunity to visit various laboratories of the institute, including air pollution control, environmental biotechnology, and genomics, solid and hazardous waste management, water technology and management.
Students enjoyed their visit to the laboratories when briefed about the various tools and techniques used in air and water quality monitoring. Finally, students and teachers interacted with the scientists of the institute who are playing an important role in bringing developments/advancements in environmental science and engineering.
The students also took a keen interest in the activities being carried out by the Institute in the area of eco-restoration. Earlier, while welcoming the students, Dr. J S Pandey, Chief Scientist & Head, Climate Change and Skilling Division advised students to understand the basic concepts of nature.
