Violators are ready to croak up a hefty fine of Rs 10,000 or imprisonment for Drunk and driving as newly amended Motor vehicles Act has come into force from September 1. The amended act permits the authorities to give striker punishment to the violators of traffic rules and regulations.
Over speeding, jumping red lights, driving without legal papers and insurance, overloading of vehicles, drink and driving are all going to attract higher penalties also if the two-wheeler drivers are found without a helmet will not only have to pay a fine of Rs 1000 but there’s also a chance that their license may get suspended for 3 months. Not only this but if one does not give way to ambulance or fire brigade a penalty of Rs. 10,000 will be charged for the same.
These new rules have been implemented to create awareness among the citizens about road safety and reduce the number of road accidents in the country.
Penalties for violation of Traffic Rules-
Drunken Driving: Rs 10,000
Driving despite disqualification: Rs 10,000
Overspending: Rs 1000-2000
Driving without insurance: Rs 2000
Driving without Helmet: Rs 1000
Traffic violations: Rs 500
Driving without License: Rs 5000
Dangerous Driving: Rs 5000
