- NMC seals all other lakes
Futala is again ready to bear the cost of the Ganesha festival after, all other lakes, like Sakkardhara, Gandhisagar, Naik and Police line takli lake have been sealed with aluminum sheds. On one hand, artificial tanks are installed for the immersion of Ganesha idols at Futala, on the other, the arrangements are still ongoing at the prabhags and, is likely to be completed by the seventh day of Ganesh festival.
On September 3, i.e. the next day of Ganesh festival, nearly 290 idols were immersed in the artificial tanks. Like every year, NGO Green Vigil along with their 228 volunteers actively participated in the immersion process.
Usually, the immersion process at most of the households in city starts from the second day itself. For this, NMC kept the artificial tanks at the Futala lake. The citizens have been appealed to immerse the small idols in these tanks so as to save the lake from pollution, up to some extent.
It may be noted that the immersion is only allowed at Futala lake. From the year 2018, the immersion has been prohibited from all other lakes. NMC placed 300 artificial tanks across the city, out of which nearly 100 are installed around the Futala lake.
Even in the Futala lake, the artificial tanks are installed at two portions. On the south side, NMC made arrangements for two centric tanks. Another artificial tank has been made near Ram temple, Gandhisagar lake for the immersion of small-sized idols.
