Budding dancers from the city enthralled the audience with their performances at ‘Antaragini 3.0 – Dance for a Cause’ an event organized by Sankalp – Nayi Soch Nayi Umeed at Vasantrao Deshpande Sabhagruha recently. The event curated by Pooja Hirwade, Bharatanatyam dancer and Abhijeet Jha, President of Sankalp, was a fundraiser event organised to aid education for daughters of deceased farmers who worked not in hours but in acres.
Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Siddharthavinayaka Kane was the chief guest on the occasion. Deepak Khirwadkar, Director, SCZCC; Vijay Phanshikar, Editor, The Hitavada and Nritya Guru Ratnam Janardhanan were the guests of honor. Corporators Nishant Gandhi and Kamlesh Chaudhary were prominently present on the occasion.
The event began with the lighting of the traditional lamp, and invocatory Kuchipudi performance by Pooja Hirwade and Arjun Nair to seek blessings of Lord Ganesha and Lord Shiva. Shraddha Hirwade, Jaidev Pahade, Saumitra Mardikar, Gauri Hirwade, and Arjun Nair mesmerized the audience with a variety of western dances like retro performance and horror dance. A well-choreographed contemporary dance depicting the life on earth without water received special appreciation.
Bharatanatyam numbers like Kali Tandav and Mayil Thillana were performed beautifully by Pooja Hirwade, Anija Nair, Gauri Hirwade, Rutuja Wankhede, Vinisha Nair, Nimisha and Sharwari Patil and became the highlight of the show.
Vaghya Murali and Rajasthani folk dances like Chirmi, Ghoomar and Kalbeliya were performed by Sachin Dabhnekar, Swapnil Khare and team.
The show concluded with a thematic act showcasing the life of a farmer. Every audience member who attended the show was presented with a return gift in the form of a sapling to mark Sankalp’s another ongoing initiative “Har Ghar Paudha Abhiyaan’. Artists were felicitated at the hands of the guests.
Manish Nair conducted the proceedings. Guests were all praises for Sankalp team for putting up a beautiful show for a noble cause and that youths should engage in such kind of activities for the welfare of the society. Abhijeet Jha proposed the vote of thanks. ‘Dance for a Cause’ curated by Pooja Hirwade was a great success and each segment won loud applause from the audience.
At the end of the event, the organisers donated Rs. 75000/- to Deen Dayal Prasarak Mandal for the education of girl children of deceased farmer families and Rs. 15000 to an individual distressed farmer family.
