The aggrieved employees of Spanco Nagpur Discom Ltd (SNDL) on Wednesday launched pen down strike for an hour over non-payment of dues and salaries. About 1,023 complaints regarding power failure remained unattended during strike period.
SNDL employees informed that the company had not paid their salaries for last two months and Performance Linked Intensive (PLI) since last two years. Earlier, the employee talked with senior management officials who refused to disburse salaries of the employees immediately by making excuses of shortage of funds.
The officials reportedly told the SNDL employees that the dues would be paid after getting payments from MSEDCL.
A leader of the aggrieved employees claimed that thousands of complaints about power failure remained unattended during the strike period. “It was the symbolic strike to persuade management about their demand.
If the management would not agree to pay our dues, the employees would call for strike again on September 7 when Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in city,†he said.
The problem was started after SNDL shot up a letter to MSEDCL to take over power distribution operations in the city last month. Employees and vendors of SNDL are worried about their livelihood if the companies shut down.
However even as MSEDCL is ready to take over the franchisee area, a minefield like situation awaits the state-run agency owing to the critical situation.
