Aiming to save Bharat Van and oppose the issue of chopping off hundreds of trees which would not only cause a heavy climate change but will also affect the beauty of the city in a drastic manner, the residents of Bharat Nagar came up with a unique idea to deliver this message by “Bharat Van Ka Raja†on the occasion of ongoing Ganapati festival.
Volunteers of ‘Save Bharat Van movement’, made a structure of eco-friendly mushak (rat) with the help of cardboard, gunny bag, packing boxes which resembles a Himalayan Pika, a species of rat that is on a verge of extinction due to the abrupt climate change.
The residents were accompanied by a few green activists who took the crafted rat to various civic authorities. The mushak was also taken to Maha Metro Office, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Public Works Department (PWD).
During this peaceful protest, the residents of Bharat Van said, the idea is to keep the movement alive. Also we came up with this idea as it is the festival of Lord Ganesha and took this as an opportunity to help the awareness program come to life again.
