Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists held a CME on “Common encounters in Anaesthesia†recently. It was conducted under the aegis of the ISA National sponsored CME program. Dr. Naveen Malhotra, HSecretary ISA national and Professor Anaesthesiology PGI Rohtak was the chief guest.
Dr. Manisha Shembekar in her welcome address stressed the need to remain updated by attending such medical education programs and appreciated all the faculties from Nagpur city who are at par with national speakers.
She also informed the audience that the state conference of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiology, Maharashtra state will be held at Nagpur next year i.e. in the year 2020.
Dr. Malhotra apprised the members of various activities of ISA like ISA legal cell, family benevolent fund, fit anaesthesiologist, social outreach, etc. He stressed upon the fact that anesthesiologists have to come out of the operation theatres and see the patients pre as well as postoperatively to make rapport with them which will also help to obtain due recognition to the Anaesthesia fraternity. He spoke on pain management in the postoperative period.
Dr. Anjali Bhure, coordinator of the CME appreciated the efforts taken by the national body in organizing such programs. There was a “How I do it†session wherein Dr. Deepali Mandlik demonstrated axillary block in neonates, Dr. Vikram Alsi spoke about the use of SGA in laparoscopic surgeries, Dr. Neelesh Mathankar demonstrated simple to perform two-minute blocks and Dr. Bhau Rajurkar, senior anaesthesiologist showed the use of bronchial blocker in pediatric patients.
A session on Paediatric anesthesia comprised of myths and facts about Paediatric Anaesthesia by Dr. Pradnya Sawant, renowned faculty from Wadia Hospital, Mumbai and Dr. Joyshankar Jana from Pune.
Dr. S. K. Deshpande, consultant cardiac anaesthesiologist spoke on anesthesia for a patient who has undergone coronary angioplasty or bypass surgery.
Dr. Prithwis Bhattacharya, Professor and Head NEIGRIHMS, Shillong spoke on preoperative assessment and quantification of anesthesia risk. Dr. Praveen Neema, Professor and Head AIIMS, Raipur spoke on Anaesthesia implications in laparoscopic surgery. Dr. Deepak Madankar talked about ICP in neurosurgical procedures. There were debates on two topics and debaters were Dr. Sachin Makde, Dr. Amrusha Choukse, Dr. Gauri Arora and Dr. Swapna Bhure who fought fiercely to keep their fort. The program was conducted smoothly by Dr. Hemangi Abhyankar and Dr. Ritesh Borkar. Dr. Soma Cham, Hon Secretary, proposed a vote of thanks.
