It has been 10 days since Lander Vikram had a hard landing on the South pool lunar surface and lost contact with the Indian Space Research Organization during its descent. Since then ISRO has left no stone unturned to re-establishing contact with the Vikram lander but it is fading fast.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) probe will fly over the landing site of lander Vikram on September 17 and will send new information about the lander.
The day Vikram attempted its Moon landing in the early hours of September 7 it was the beginning of the lunar day. One lunar day which is equal to around 14 Earth days, is the lifespan of Vikram and its rover Pragyaan’s. By September 20-21, as Vikram will have no sunlight to power, the Chandrayaan-2 lander will likely go silent forever.
