Recently the menace of stray animals has increased in Nagpur and even a survey has found that there are 80K stray dogs in the city. The situation in its true sense has pointed towards the apathy of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, as the NMC has not resorted the measures to solve the problem. And the Save speechless organization has demanded that cases should be registered against the stray cattle owners, as the civic body levy a minimum fine upon the owners of the stray cattle owners.
Many cattle owners do not have adequate place to keep these cattle and they allow the castles to roam around and leave their cattle to strive in deprived condition. And there should be strict rules for the cattle owners so that they can take care of their livestock.
Earlier, Smita Mire, the member of the organization had submitted many memorandums to NMC and suggested a few measures in this regard. Due to stray cattle, many accidents happened and the cattle bear the wrath of the accident victims. And the cattle owners are not concerned about it. As per the information, every month more than 150 stray cattle die in road accidents. She added that the organization had provided details about places where stray cattle are available to NMC, but the civic body questioned the organization regarding the cattle stable. Currently, the NMC slaps Rs.50 to Rs.100 fine on the cattle owners.
On the contrary, the owners said that they pay Rs.1000 to NMC.In this situation; NMC should increase the fine to Rs.5000 for first time offender and Rs.10000 for the second time. Along with the fine, the NMC should register a case against the cattle owners. And the organization is decided to meet Union Minister Nitin Gadkari in this regard.
