As a part of the up-gradation of status from RCC (Regional Cancer Centre) to TCCC (Tertiary Care Cancer Centre) under the NPCDCS Programme initiated by the Ministry of Health, Government of India. Rashtrasant Tukdoji Regional Cancer Hospital added another feather to its cap by introducing the new mobile cancer detection van for the citizens of Vidarbha. The ‘Mobile Cancer Detection Van’ will soon begin its journey in 3 districts Saoner, Kamptee and Nagpur Rural areas.
While talking to Joint Director Dr. B K Sharma he informed me that this new mobile hospital will help in keeping the track of cancer patients. The data collected will later be shared on the national level and with the World Health Organization (WHO). This we help generate statistics on the number of people suffering from cancer in a year.
The mobile van will help us in keeping a record of which type of cancer is affecting people the most in our country and what are the major causes of the disease. This van is a unique initiative by the government to help spread awareness about the fatal disease cancer.
Dr. Sharma Informed that in India according to a survey the commonly found cancer among Indians is Oral cancer. Indians are exposed to oral cancer due to obvious reasons and the risk of them suffering from oral cancer has increased to 33% followed by cervical cancer.
Recent studies have also found that people who lack nutrition are more prone to this disease and have a high chance of suffering from cancer.
This mobile van is well equipped with the facility of diagnosing oral cancer, cervix cancer, breast cancer, dental problems. The van is divided into four sections ENT section, a waiting room, dental room, room with well-equipped instruments to diagnosed breast cancer, pathology lab which will help in giving instant results. A team of well-trained doctors is also installed which will counsel the patient which includes ENT surgeon, a gynecologist, pathologist, and other professional doctors.
