Two city players Irshad Ahmed (second in all India Ranking) and junior national champion Gurucharan Tambe have been selected in the Indian team for Indo-Maldives carrom test series to be held at Maldives from October 5 to 12.
Executive president of All India Carrom Federation MLC Â Girish Vyas, president of Vidarbha Carrom Association Prof. Azhar Hussain, president of Nagpur District Carrom Association Jaiprakash Gupta and Bachher, Mohammad Iqbal honoured both Irshad Ahmad and Guruchara Tambe for their selection in the Indian team at a brief function held at MLA Hostel on Wednesday.
Addressing media persons Girish Vyas said Irshad Ahmad will represent the senior carrom team that also comprises Prashant More and Zahir Pasha (RBI), Rajesh Goyal (Maharashtra), Sandeep Dive (Air India). Gurucharan Tambe will be the member of junior team that also include Afzal Khan (Maharashtra), Kamran Tanvir and Samed Akhter (UP) and G Mukesh. The women team will be represented by Rashmi Kumari, Aiyesha Sajjad, S Apoorva, Â Naga Joshi, and Neelam Ghodke.
Four players of the Test series will represent India in International Carrom federation Cup that will be organised at Pune from December 2 to 6. The players from 18 countries will participate in this prestigious tournament that will be jointly organised by  Maharashtra Carrom Association and Pune Carrom Association
