Nagpur Blues pipped Big Ben Football Club 3-2 to start their campaign on winning note in JSW Elite Division Football Tournament organised by Nagpur District Football Association (NDFA) at Central Railway Ajni ground, here on Sunday.
In the pening tie, the spectators witnessed tough battle in the first half. As a result, the score was equalised (2-2). In the 29th minute, Aditya Chandane drew the first blood for Nagpur Blues. Six minutes later Edwin Khalko increased the lead 2-0. In the 40th minute, Mihir Baghel reduced the lead for Big Ben converting an excellent opportunity. During an injury-time of the first half, Chirag Naidu struck and leveled the score.
In the second half, both the teams made several attacking moves to take the lead. Finally, in the 8oth minute, Khalko once again found the net and scripted the victory.
Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by NDFA president Haresh Vora in the presence of other NDFA officials Iqbal Kashmiri, Eugene Norbert, Naquib Akhtar, Latif Ahmed, A B Khan, Prof. Atmaran Pande, and Vinod Tiwari.
On Monday Rahul Club will ake on Ansar Club at 3 p.m.
