Indeed it was a D-day for the Saoji restaurants in the city as the state excise department on Saturday night has conducted raids on many of these restaurants for illegally permitting the customers to consume liquor on hotel premises.
The restaurants include in the list are Gajanan Bhojanalya in Sadar,Sindh Maratha Bhojanalaya,Jaripatka,Kashmir family restaurant,Tekka Naka and Pintu Dhabha.In the raids, the excise department has seized the liquor worth Rs.11,400 and the owners of the restaurants Vinay Nityanand Jaiswal ,Santosh Bharat Hariyani and Harjinder Singh and Harvansingh Parmar were arrested.
As per the reports, after getting information, the excise team led had conducted the raids. They had also arrested the people who were consumed the liquor on the premises of the hotels.
Afterwards the people were taken to Mayo hospital for the medical test. The operation was carried out following the orders from the commissioner of police Dr.B.K Upadhyay and superintendent of excise department Pramod Sonone.
As per official sources, since January 290 drunkards have been penalized for illegal consumption of liquor.
