Maha Metro has once again approached the Nagpur Bench of Bombay High court stating that the road is a long term solution, which was intended to build the year in 2000 itself. The affidavit that was submitted also mentioned that the construction of the road is the main project while the Futala lake redevelopment is its ancillary project.
The authorities have come up with plan of construction with the redevelopment project to get easy funding alleged activists. The affidavit states that the Maha Metro has also claimed that the road is around 750 meters away from Futala Lake and as it does not come under the catchment area, it won’t harm the water body.
According to the activists protesting against the construction of this road have said, the road will affect the lakes command area which is classified as a grade -1 structure in the city’s heritage list.
Maha Metro has also assured that minimum environmental damage will be done during the construction as it intends to transplant tress using latest scientific methods.
