Recently on the occasion of World Mental Health Day, ALL India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Nagpur has observed World Mental Health Day. And Department of Psychiatry, AIIMS has organiseda‘Mind Mela’.
The two-day programme was organized for young medical students and the activities such as short film competition on theme ‘Prevent suicide, celebrate life’, e-poster and memes on positive mental health, and ‘Brain-o-Holic’ quiz have been conducted.
The highlight of the programme was a discussion named ‘Out of Box’ in which Dr Sreelakshmi V and Dr Sonakshi Jyrwa, from the Department of Psychiatry, exchanged thoughts on mental illness and suicide. Through a unique approach, the staff, students and faculties, anonymously dropped in their views into boxes called ‘Think Tanks’ which were then addressed at the forum.
The event concluded with the distribution of certificates to the winners of the various competitions held followed by an address by the Director and CEO, AIIMS, Nagpur, Maj Gen (Dr) Vibha Dutta, SM, who emphasized on the need for optimism and resilience in one’s life and called for the destigmatisation of mental health.
