City swimmer Shubrant Patra clinched the gold medal whereas Yash Gulhane and Dhruv Mishra and Anagh Wankhede bagged silver each on the third and final day of the Maharashtra School State Swimming competition, organised by the State Sports and Youth Services, at the NIT Swimming Complex here on Wednesday. In the U-19 boy’s butterfly event, Shubrant clocked 59.28 secs to win the only gold medal. Avdhut Parulkar of Kolhapur (59.53) and Mumbai’s Yash Patki (59.75) finished second and third, respectively.
Dhruv Mishra pocketed the silver in the 200m backstroke event with a timing of 2:26.75. He also grabbed bronze in the U-17 boys 100m butterfly. Yash Gulhane won the silver medal with the record timing of 2 minutes and 38.56 secs in the U-17 boys 200m breaststroke.
Earlier in the competition, Yash won two gold medals in the 50m and 100m breaststroke and one bronze medal in 4×100 midley relay. With this effort, he became the first boy swimmer from the city to win four medals — 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze.
In the U-14 boys 200m IM, Anagh Wankhede of Nagpur notched up silver medal with a timing of 2 minutes and 45.18 secs. Sahil Tarare won bronze in the U-19 boy’s freestyle, while Himani Fadke claimed bronze in the U-19 girls 200m individual medley.
