The city has been polling for 288 Assembly constituencies of Maharashtra since morning. In Maharashtra, BJP, under the leadership of Devendra Fadnavis made the alliance of BJP, Shiv Sena and smaller parties to fight against Congress and the NCP. Tight security arrangements have been made with deployment of more than three lakh personnel from state police and central forces in Maharashtra, for a hassle-free and clean election.
This Assembly poll is said to be an iconic one for both the parties. The voting began at 7 am Monday. Polling is expected to conclude at 6 pm.
Government had declared holiday in Maharashtra and Haryana on the day of poll. In Maharashtra, 18.5% votes were cast by the voters till 1 pm, while in Nagpur District 25.6% voters cast their votes till 1 pm.
The poll percentage is expected to increase in the afternoon.
In Orange City, Nagpur West constituency is witnessing a slow start with just 23% of votes till 1 pm, while other parts of Nagpur had a good response of voters. Nagpur South West 23.90%, Nagpur South 30%, Nagpur East 32%, Nagpur Central 25.07% and Nagpur North 24.10%
