Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve (TATR) has come up with a new addition of night safari in the previously existing plan. The night safari at TATR will now be open in the buffer zone of Palasgaon-Karwa-Shivni route. It will be a 32 km safari from Padmapur gate till Kondgaon, this safari will be in Mohurli buffer zone.
This night safari will be costing 3500 per trip. The whole amount will include fare of gypsy which is 2000, the gate fee which is 1000 and also 500 as the guide fee. It is already decided that only six-vehicle will be permitted to enter the forest during night time and that too for a tip of two hours which will be from 7 pm to 9 pm.
The previous night safari was launched on December 10 in 2015; this night safari was first held from Surewani gate in the buffer zone of Pench Tiger Reserve (PTR). The whole idea of night safari saw a poor response after which it was shut down. The plan of night safari was done as an experiment to bloom the tourism at PTR and since the response was not as expected and only 60 vehicles with 300 tourists were seen visiting the forest at night time, during the period of calculation of the night safari, the whole idea was dropped by the higher committee members and has not been discussed since by the Local Advisory Committee (LAC). The issue has not even got any fresh directives by the authority since its closure.
The booking for the night safari for now is offline and a good response is expected by the people as the peak season is on its way and the area selected for night safari is rich with wildlife, said Pravin, forest authority TATR.
