After the Maharashtra Assembly Polls came to an end on October 21, city gears up for the results of the election on October 24. The newly appointed Collector of Nagpur, Ravindra Thakre in a press conference which was held on October 22 at Office of District Collector, informed about the voting down in the Nagpur District on election and the preparations made for the results.
Thakre informed that 57.19% of votes were registered till 6 pm on October 21 in Nagpur and adjacent districts. 41,71,420 voters were registered from which only 23,85,799 voters turned up to perform their duty.
12,69,911 males, 11,15,882 Females and 6 other cast their vote to choose their leaders for the Assembly poll 2019. EVM machines have been safely deported in the safe house under the observation of higher authorities, armed forces and CCTV.
Speaking about the problems occurred in many areas in EVM machines Thakre added that 29 Ballet Units, 23 Control Units and 216 vivid pads were replaced from many areas.
Thakre informed about the steps taken on the result day. The counting of votes will begin from 8 am on October 24 and will be divided in different segments for easy counting procedures.
The counting will be done in presence of higher authorities in the counting hall which will be under CCTV surveillance in presence of armed forces. After each round results will be declared in the public.
In Nagpur, various constituencies are divided in different rounds for fast counting of votes. Nagpur South West 14 tables with 27 rounds, Nagpur South 14 tables with 25 rounds, Nagpur East 20 tables with 17 rounds, Nagpur West 20 tables with 17 rounds, Nagpur Central 14 tables with 22 rounds, Nagpur North 20 tables with 18 rounds have been appointed.
Once the counting of votes is done the EVM will be stored at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru market Kalmna until further notice.
