The first alumni meet of Rajiv Gandhi Biotechnology Centre, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj, Nagpur University, Nagpur was held at Lata Mangeshkar Seminar Hall of the Centre. Dr Neeraj Khaty, Professor in Chemistry, Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, and officiating Registrar the University, was the chief guest.
Prof Veena Prakashe, Information Scientist, of the University, was the guest of honour. Prof Pravin R Puranik, from Department of Biotechnology, School of Life Sciences, Kavayitri Bahinabai Chaudhri North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon and Dr Abhijeet A Agashe, Controller of Examination, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management, were the guest speakers.
All the dignitaries were welcomed and felicitated by Dr Arti S Shanware, Director, Rajiv Gandhi Biotechnology Centre. Dr Shanware made introductory remarks. The guests expressed their insightful views on the alumni summit and conveyed their best wishes to the Centre. After the inaugural ceremony, Prof Pravin R Puranik enlightened the audience on ‘Career Opportunities in Biotechnology’. Dr Abhijeet A Agashe delivered a motivational and innovative talk on ‘Achieving Professional Success’.
The post-lunch session commenced with a panel discussion and interaction between faculties, alumni and the students. Dr Gaurang Deshpande, Chief Scientific Officer, Spandan Heart Institute and Research Centre, Nagpur, moderated the session. A cultural evening was organised by the students of M.Sc. Biotechnology of the centre.
Vote of Thanks was proposed by Dr Ashwini Darokar. D. Neha Yadav Nath conducted the proceedings. Dr Bipin Lade, Dr Ashwini Darokar and Dr Neha Yadav, Faculty members and non-teaching staff of the Centre worked hard for the success of the programme.
