Dr. Sameer Ashok Arbat, interventional pulmonologist, KRIMS Hospitals Nagpur has been awarded fellowship by the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP) on 20th October 2019. Dr Sameer, one of the three Indians awarded with the fellowship, was felicitated by the president of ACCP, Dr Clayton Cowl at the convocation ceremony organised during the first day of Chest Annual Meeting held at New Orleans, Louisiana, USA.
Dr Sameer also presented 3 clinical papers at the Chest Annual Meeting entitled “Recanalisation of endobronchial tumour with cryoprobe and electrocauteryâ€, “Role of Radial EBUS guided cryobiopsy in peripheral lesions†and “Rare case of endobronchial leiomyoma.â€
Dr Sameer was also invited as a Guest Speaker at University of Rochester, New York where he gave a guest lecture on Cryobiopsy and Non-Smoker COPD to the department of Pulmonology and Clinical Research. Both the lectures were well received and appreciated by the faculty members. University of Rochester is one of the pioneer medical schools in USA with many scientific discoveries and Nobel laureates as it’s alumni.
Dr Sameer has been performing advanced and rare bronchoscopy procedures with more than 500 EBUS, cryotherapy and thoracoscopy with the past 3 years. He has many presentations and publications to his name and has received awards at many national and international platforms.
