An oration on “Pesticides’ Contamination in Water Resources and their Harmful Effects†was recently organized by Indian Water Works Association (IWWA) at IWWA Hall, North Ambazari Road.
Dr Sandeep Shukla, Research Officer, Central Water commission was the keynote speaker of the event. Dr Shukla, in his lecture, informed about various pesticides’ used in India and their effects on human health and the environment.
“The Government of India, under the National water quality monitoring programme, has been monitoring various surface sources for the presence of select pesticides,†informed Dr Shukla.
Dr Rajesh Gupta, Dr K S Bhole, Dr Virendra P Dehadrai and N M Bangre were prominently present at the occasion. The event was co-ordinatedby Dr Pawan Labhasetwar while Dr V A Mhaisalkar, Chairman, Nagpur Centre welcomed the guests.
