Finally, the wait for Nagpur Darshan Bus is over as Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has decided to re-start the operations of Nagpur Darshan Bus (Tourism Bus). The deadline for the service was early October, but due some technical issues and Diwali festival, the Transport Committee of the civic body decided to postpone the plan till mid-November.
Earlier, NMC had run such bus a few years ago but due to lack of response, the civic body stopped its operations. Jitendra alias Bunty Kukde, Chairman of Transport Committee of NMC, said the civic body is planning to resume the operations again.
Tourism Bus which was earlier in operation were not successful because NMC had failed to involve deep planning or thought to ensure success to the service. After studying all the aspects, Kukde has decided to remove deficiencies so that the buses will have smooth run. To begin with, a bus will be run for senior citizens only. It will allow women and children.
Later on, it would accommodate all citizens. Total three buses will on soon been seen rolling on the streets. The buses will be given a special colourful look. A tentative name that was decided by Kukde is ‘Nagpur Darshan bus’. The route will be same as it was earlier. Some more places could be added, he said. Roughly, the bus would cover places including Tekdi Ganesh Mandir, Deekshabhoomi, Reshimbag Smruti Mandir, Dragon Palace Temple, Seminary Hills, Airport, Maharajbag, Central Museum, etc.
Though the possibility to pick up willing senior citizens from their homes is not finalised yet, plans are afoot towards this facility, he added.
