Citizens are facing number of problems as the cement road works in city are still in progress and not fully developed yet. It is seen that the development of cement road is only 80 percent completed and another 20 percent is still remaining. Some areas are seen on the same stage from last four months; these roads are under construction and have been made a one-way route from several months. Due to this the commuters are facing lot of troubles. The citizens of these areas have requested the authorities to accelerate the momentum of work and to finish construction as soon as possible.
The cement road construction is being done as part of the smart city project. Although, the first and second stage of cement road development have been completed but the third stage process has been on a halt for several months now or have been continuing in a sluggish manner.
Work on the second stage of roads started through the joint partnership of the State government, Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) and Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT). Approval was received on January 8 in 2016 with a work order issued for 55.24 km road costing rupees 279 crores. Later as the construction was started the budget was increased to rupees 340 crores. The state government and NIT provided 100 crores EACH while NMC provided a fund of rupees 140 crores. The work was supposed to complete in a period of one year but the same has been continuing for almost three years.
