Swimmer Himani Fadke made the city proud by achieving the first position in the 10-kilometre open national sea swimming competition held at Goa recently.
In the Under-17 category, braving the tides in the open sea Himani clocked the 10 km distance in 1.31hours in the Arabian sea. around 400 swimmers from all over India participated in the competition that was recognized by Indian Swimming Federation.
So far Himani Fadke secured the first position in as many as nine state-level sea swimming competitions. Apart from it last year she won a cash prize of Rs 50,000 by winning ‘Swimthon 2018’.
Himani is being trained under the guidance of national coach Sanjay Batwe at Shark Aquatic Sporting Association at Kamgar Kalyan Mandal swimming pool.
