Ujda Chaman, a movie on the topic of ‘baldness’ which is a very common problem among youngsters, has been released in theaters on November 1.
The movie is directed by Abhishek Pathak starring Sunny Singh, Maanvi Gagroo, Saurabh Shukla, and Karishma Sharma.
The movie is an official remake of the Kannada movie Ondu Motteya Kathe released in 2017. Another Bollywood movie with the same theme is all set to release on November 8, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar, Yami Gautam, Javed Jaffrey.
The movie revolves around Chaman Kohli (Sunny Singh), a 30-year old lecturer who suffers from premature baldness, is on a pursuit for a beautiful wife. The protagonist had to face several rejections because of his bald condition. Eventually, he gets another blow when an astrologer gives him a deadline to find himself a wife or remain a chronic bachelor forever.
Life turns around when he encounters a girl named Apsara on a blind date. Later the movie brings Chaman on a road of self-discovery and self-acceptance.
Sunny Singh as Chaman Kohli makes every effort to make you feel for his condition but the lack of a strong script fails to connect you with the movie. Despite of a strong topic what lacks in the movie is the screenplay, strong direction, and good writing. It will be interesting to see what Ayushman serves in the platter of his upcoming movie Bala.
