November 22 witnessed to be the day which welcomed the new city Mayor in Nagpur. Sandeep Joshi from Bhartia Janta Party (BJP) was elected to be the 53rd Mayor of Nagpur city, who will now be representing the city in every manner and functions coming forth. Joshi who was previously worked as a senior corporator from BJP who got elected four times before becoming the Mayor.
Joshi won the Mayor elections by 104 votes while compared to other parties Ibrahim Khan from Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) had got 10 votes and Congress candidate Harshala Sable had backed 26 votes in this election.
During a press meet held in the Town Hall in Mahal, Joshi pledged to work hand in hand with the corporators and to look after the development of Nagpur city. Besides this, a program “Walk and Talk with Mayor†has been also launched where right from November 24 till November 30 the problems and solutions regarding the development of the city will be discussed. For this program separate places have been selected for each day where the discussion would be held at 7:30 in the morning on the selected dates.
It is also decided that every government office would have a complaint box for the people of Nagpur through which a continuous connection could be kept in between citizens and Government bodies.
