The Gorewada Biodiversity Park will remain closed till December 8 for security purposes, the authorities informed. The decision came after leopard pugmarks were spotted in the area.
According to the information, some people doing morning walk in the park had spotted leopard pugmarks in room No. 797 of the park. The forest department was informed about the incident.
A team of experts from the forest department arrived at the spot and confirmed that the pugmarks actually belonged to a leopard.
Following that the park was closed for public from November 29 to December 1 as the authorities searched for the leopard.
However, the leopard has not been spotted yet. Even the camera traps inside the park have not been able to capture the big cat.
The forest officials, on the other hand, have said that the possibility of the leopard still being inside could not be denied. Hence, for security purposes, it has been decided that the park should remain closed for seven more days.
