The Department of Botany, Hislop College is back again with its 16th ‘Annual flower show’ on December 7 and 8.
In the 16th edition of this exhibition includes petunias, begonias, calendula, marigold and zinnia, besides the beautiful and exotic chrysanthemums. Vermicompost, an integral part of the show is produced in-house through the natural composting followed by fortification.
A unique feature of ‘Hislop Flower Show’ is the involvement of its students in cultivation, growth and maintenance of this wide collection. To promote the go green theme a sit and draw competition “Papilion” is also staged at the event. Young artists from various schools participate adding a beautiful dimension to the show.
The annual event is held by the Botany Department, students under the guidance of Dr Mousumi Bhowal and other faculty members, Parama Majumdar, Dr Shivani Dongarwar, Dr Mayank Varun, Deepika Sarda, and Nikita Phule.
The show will commence under the guidance of Dr Jayant Agrawal, Secretary, Hislop Education Society and the leadership of Dr Prashant Shelke, Officiating Principal, Hislop College, Vice Principals Dr Pratik Michael and Dr Ajay Yoel. The show will be held on December 7 and 8, and will be open for guests from 8 a.m.to 8 p.m. on both the days.
