The Food and Drugs Administration on Wednesday carried out raid against various establishment and godowns in Maskasath, Itwari and Octroi Free Zone in Wardhaman Nagar in which FDA has collected a large stock of betel nuts of Rs 8.56 crore were seized in the raid.
The raid was carried out in order to ensure that citizens do not consume low quality betel nuts in which they has also collected 23 samples which are suspected to be of low quality.Around 4,61,068 kilogram of betel nuts was seized by the officials in the raid.
FDA assistant commissioner (food) Sharad Kolte, along with food security officer Abhay Deshpande, food security officer of Amravati and Nagpur division Rajkumar kakodkar, Bhau Rao Chavan, Vinod Dhavad, Nilesh Tathed, Ghanashyam Dande, Lalit Soyam, Raoshabeh Wakde, Raviraj Dhabarde, Amarnath Sontake, Pravin Umap, Prabhakar Kale and others were part of the FDA team which conducted the raid.
The raid was carried out under the guidance of Joint Commissioner (food) Chandrakant Pawar.
Commissioner Pawar applied citizens to complain against any under quality products being sold and the adulteration in food products.
