The NSS 78th Round regional level training camp for Nagpur region of National Statistical Office, Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, Government of India will be held at Conference Hall (3rd floor), Indian Bureau of Mines, Indira Bhavan, Civil Lines, Nagpur during 17 to 20 December 2019.
The NSO had been conducting National Sample Surveys (NSS) to collect socio-economic data employing scientific sampling methods since 1950. Data collected by NSO are widely used by Government for policy formulation and planning purpose. Many Research Organisations are also using the survey data. The surveys are conducted on different socio-economic subjects like:
- Changes in Consumption Pattern
- Employment and Unemployment position
- Growth of both organised and unorganized sectors
- Disability and Morbidity
- Domestic Tourism Expenditure
- Debt and Investment & Land and Livestock Holding
- Drinking water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Housing condition.
The 78th Round of NSS is earmarked for collection of data on ‘Domestic Tourism Expenditure’ and ‘Multiple Indicator Surveys’. The last survey on Domestic Tourism was conducted in 72nd round of NSS (July 2014 to June 2015). The data on domestic tourism expenditure is an important component for preparation of Tourism Satellite Account (TSA) by Ministry of Tourism (MoT). Survey on Multiple Indicators is being conducted for the first time in NSS during this round. The objective of MIS is to collect information for some important indicators of Sustainable Development Goals 2030. Information on Migration and Construction of Urban Housing will also be collected as per the requirement of Ministry of Housing a Remove featured imagind Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
The 78th round of survey will be conducted from January to December 2020. About 14500 villages/urban blocks will be surveyed for central sample at all India level. The above training camp has been organised to impart training to the Statistical Officers for data collection. Around 75 field functionaries of Field Operations Division (FOD) of NSO will be attending the camp. Delegates from Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), Nagpur and Amravati Division, Govt. of Maharashtra, delegates from Data Quality Assurance Division (DQAD), NSO will also participate. Shri Srinivas Uppala, Director and Controlling Officer, Regional Office NSO (FOD) Nagpur is the organizer of this regional training camp.
