A musical dance drama ‘Yugpurush Swami Vivekananda’ by Ramakrishna Math Pune was staged on Friday evening at the third edition of cultural extravaganza Khasdar Sanskrutik Mahotsav held at Ishwar Deshmukh Physical Education College at Krida Chowk, Hanuman Nagar.
The mega musical play presented a saga on life of Swami Vivekananda by highlighting his search for the truth.
The play was successful in highlighting life journey of Swami Vivekananda and his journey in finding the ultimate reality. The play gave an insight of his search of a spiritual leader who may guide him, which led him to Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa after which his religious journey began.
Eighteen songs were performed on the day on which over 40 professional Kathak artists performed. Colourful costumes, effective use of lighting and simple narration kept the audience amazed.
The play, written by Ramakrishna Math and head Swami Shrikantananda. Kedar Pandit was the music composer. Nahiket Jog was executive Director and script composer. The play was choreographed by Anita Patankar and Madhura Afale. Actor Shyamraj Patil played the lead role of Swami Vivekananda while Sudhanshu Panse as Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Mahadev Herwadkar, Sayaji Shendkar, Shriram Gokhale, Niranjan Kulkarni, Rameshwari Vaishampayan, Meenal Deshpande and Laxmikant Pawar.
