A big respite for the industries in the state as on Thursday the government had announced that it would withdraw the excess service charge on industries situated in MIDC area. As per information, Industries minister Subhash Desai made this announcement in the State Legislative Council. He further added that new service charges were imposed keeping in view of MIDC’s expenditure on raising necessary infrastructure in the last 10 years.
However, the money spent could not be recovered. And recently various industries associations has approached the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and requested him to roll back the increased service charge. And due to the economic recession the government stayed the order of November 11, 2019 issued by MIDC and will review it.
And the most important is that more than one lakh industries are running in MIDC area and most of them are medium industries. And had the service charge not been rolled back, it will badly affect the small industries would have faced a shut down.
