In a major crackdown on amongst the most prominent player in the Fertilizer sector in Latur District of Maharashtra, the premises of M/s. Maharashtra Bio Fertilizers India Pvt. Ltd., Latur was raided by the officers of Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI), Aurangabad Regional Unit on December 24.
Intelligence had been developed by the DGGI officers that the Taxpayer had evaded massive GST during the last few months by clearing Bio Fertilizers, Insecticides, Pesticides, Fungicides and many more without payment of appropriate GST. It was detected by the officers from the E Way Bill Portal that the Taxpayer had issued over 4000 E Way Bills involving sale value of app. Rs. 102.45 Crore but no GST had been paid on these clearances.
During interrogation, the Managing Director of the Taxpayer admitted the evasion of GST on these clearances. The evaded GST is estimated to be app. Rs. 13.50 crore, out of which GST of Rs. 8.92 Crore has been paid by the Taxpayer till today. The balance GST is expected to be recovered within the next 2 days.
