Moves to maintain the air quality and to minimize the noise level at the Nagpur railway station, the Central Railways have sought to an ‘action plan’.The action plan includes crushing of plastic bottles, allowing no spillage during shifting of the garbage apart from full-proof solid waste and effluent management at the railway stations which have got the ISO certificates. As per the source, the most remarkable feature in the action plan is making Nagpur station premises e-waste free. The e-waste which includes cables, wires and other electronic items from various departments will be collected in bins. And it will be shifted to central store in Ajni for disposal. As per information, the department will also maintain a record of the e-waste.
Recently after an order of the national green tribunal (NGT), the railway zone across India had started preparation to get ISO certification through their efforts to make the station premises more environment and eco-friendly. And in order to meet the standards of different environmental parameters as per the standard of the National Pollution Control Board (NPCB), CR has now prepared plans to ensure that their ISO certification status remains unchanged after the surveillance checks every year. And after South East Central Railway (SECR), the Central Railways too has now managed to bag ISO certification for Wardha, Sevagram, Ballarshah, Betul and Chandrapur apart from Nagpur.
