Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) had planned a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) for over 32 gardens of the city, for the use of fire department, playgrounds of school and also for road dividers of the city. The plan was to recycle the water and use it for various purposes of the city projects, but due to few issues the private agency which was assigned to hold the authority of this plan only one STP has been made active.
The Narednra Nagar garden, in PMG society has got a STP to provide a sufficient amount of supply of clean water to provide for the better growth of its plants and trees.NMC had consulted a Japanese company, Johkasou for the planning of sewage treatment plants. This plan was on hold for few years, after which Maharashtra government issued the directions to recycle the sewage water by local authorities. The plan was already sanctioned back in 2016 when the Japanese company had a meeting with NMC authorities.
In early phase NMC had selected many gardens but only 32 were decided to put in the final list for the installation of STP’s. Even after cutting down the names, till now only one garden of Narendra Nagar has been installed with the STP, later whose authority was handed over to a Nagpur based agency ‘Nagpur Rite Water Solutions’ for the maintenance work.
