The Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) has made some major changes in the format of the entrance examination. Students will now have to choose either Mathematics group or Biology group and will not have choice of opting Biology and Mathematics both for the examination.
This change will take place in the CET to be held between April 13 to 23, 2020. The entrance examination of 2019 was held in three groups MM (Mathematics group), BB (Biology group) and MB (Mathematics-Biology).Earlier CET was conducted for the admissions to engineering and health sciences courses. Students often had difficulty in choosing for engineering or to opt for health sciences. Such students had choice of opting (Mathematics-Biology) MB. After the introduction of National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) for the admissions to health sciences courses, MHT-CET remained for the admissions to engineering alone. Three years ago MHT-CET was made compulsory for the admissions to Agriculture, Pharmacy, Fisheries, and Dairy Technology courses.
For engineering students, they are supposed to take MM group where the test of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is conducted. For other courses BB group is to be opted where Biology replaces Mathematics. Those want to go for both had a choice of MB group. From next MHT-CET 2020 exam students have to opt for either MM or BB.
Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell under Directorate of Technical Education (DTE Maharashtra) released the tentative dates and schedule of 06 MAH CETs to be conducted in 2020, including MHT CET 2020 and MAH MCA CET 2020, on its official website mahacet.org.
