Samarth Vyayam Shala overcame Guard Regimental Centre (GRC) Kamptee in four sets to win the title in Harshad Sharma-Nitin Choudhry Memorial Volleyball Championship organised by Venus Sports Association.
In the open category final, SVS defeated GRC 23-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23. Thanks to Vedant Thavre and Pranay Vabhitkar for their match winning performance. For GRC, lifter Sandeep played well but didn’t receive any support from other players. In the third place match Youth Sports Club Katol defeated Jai Academy. Before the final mayor Sandip Joshi greeted the players. Corporator Rupali Thakur was present on the occasion.
Corportor Dr Ravindra Bhoyar and Satish Holey handed over the trophies to the winners and runner-up in the presence of parents of late Harshad Sharma, major Ajaypal Singh, Venus president Sunil Kashikar vice-president Kiran Gosewade and others. Former Ranji trophy player Deepak Wazalwar conducted the proceedings while Ashok Deshmukh proposed a vote of thanks.
