The Mayor of Mysore city of Karnataka, Pushpalata Jagannath, Deputy Mayor Shafi Ahmed, District Collector Abhiram G. Shankar, Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde visited Nagpur city during a study tour on Monday.
The dignitaries were invited to the Mayor’s Room, where Mayor Sandeep Joshi welcomed the delegation along with all the dignitaries by giving a basil plantation sapling and discussed the city’s projects. Apart from this, Commissioner Abhijit Bangar also interacted with all the dignitaries in the Commissioner room.
During the study tour, dignitaries observed the ongoing ‘Bio Remediation’ project at Bhandewadi. The project is being implemented on an area of 1 acre by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) at Bhandewadi.
It is a process of recycling waste based in Bhandwadi, where the trash like glass, iron, tire are processed, while separating soil and stone. Other waste is processed and handed over to RDF Cement Company. Of the entire project, about three acres of waste has been processed so far, said Nagesh Prabhu, director of Zigma Global Advanced Solutions Pvt.
The city of Mysore has a population of around 1 lakh and represents 5 corporators in the municipality. The ‘Bio Remediation’ project implemented in Nagpur city is better than other city projects. Information will be taken to implement the project in Mysore city, said Mudur Municipal Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde.
