Plays based on humanity, social issues, modern romance and many other subjects were performed by the learned actors who showcased their talent at the 59th State Amateur Theatre Competition. The competition was held on January 1, at Scientific Society Hall which was organized by Maharashtra state cultural directorate.
Numbers of performances were staged in the preliminary round of this competition, in which more than 25 entries were received. Young actors from the city had put on their best performance following their specific character in the plays like Manasicha Shilpakar, which was the first performance of the night. Following this Kishta Bahar, Te Bara Taas, Zhalkari, Hitler Bootpolish Kartoy, Natakkar Bhadant Ashwaghosh, Pahila Prem and Propose, Neki, Itthal Itthal Love Love, Up Down, ATS, Nyayapriya, Biopic Shri, Varul, Sttantar WataPalwata, Nilambari, Bewaras, Golmaal, Sari Raytri, Ti, Phone Aani Mrutyu, The Fear Factor and Ramjatra these plays were enacted.
Vaidehi Chawre, Event Coordinator said, “Each play which was performed was different from the previous one and had a unique topic to put forth on the stage.†She also said, “Today many young actors have started their journey towards the career of acting and we feel blessed to give them a stage to have their talents showcase.â€
Pravin Khapre, writer of Biopic Shri said “the credit for successful completion of a month long competition goes to the writers, actor and directors whose vision to look at the issues from a different perspective helped bring out the best in young actors.â€Khapre further added, we have been practicing for over a month now. Most of our actors are non Marathi which was a tough task to make them understand the lingo and the slang language.
