Nagpur: The Basketball championship in the season 3 of Khasdar Krida Mahotsav being promoted as Chak De, Khelo Nagpur Khelo, will be played in two different age categories and at two different venues of the city from, from January 13 to 23.
The championship will be played for boys and girls in the Youth (U-16) category (for players born on and after 1-1-2004) at the twin courts of Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana from Jan 13 to 18 while matches for Senior men and women category will be played at the twin courts of Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) in Bajaj Nagar from the morning of January 18 to 23.
The Khasdar Krida Mahotsav is a brain child of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, and Shipping Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, and is country’s first multisport grass root festival which provides a competition format for the players of Nagpur will be played from January 12-24 across all corners of the city. The actual competition of the 13-day sporting extravaganza with 32 various sports disciplines to be conducted across 39 different venues will begin from January 12.
The basketball event of this multisport festival will be conducted by the Nagpur District Basketball Association (NDBA) and the 11-day tournament will carry a handsome prize money of Rs 2,92,000.
The champion team in every category will win a cash prize of Rs 31,000 while the team finishing second will be richer by Rs 21,000 and the third placed team takes home Rs 11,000 and attractive trophies. All the players will be given certificates and the podium finishers will be awarded medals.
In addition a best player of the tournament in all the age categories will win a cash prize of Rs 5000. Other individual performers including best defender and impact player will get a cash prize of Rs 2500 each.
